A Pictorial Record of the Construction of National Cycle Route 24 Through Radstock

Week 9

Work on all three sections appears to be substantially complete. All is tarmac'd with the exception of a part of the Radstock-Mells Road station route from Meadow View to the B&NES Boundary.

Fencing work is underway to protect users from the steep sides of the railway embankment near Kilmersdon.

The N-R Greenway extension is nearly complete.

This set of pictures were taken on Sunday 4th April 2004.

Paglinch Farm deviation is now fully tarmac'd, with the exception of a short section (just by the nearest cone in this picture) which appears to be part of a tractor crossing.

Braysdown Lane Bridge.

Something for the history buffs: About 100 yards beyond the bridge is the site of the "Radstock Disaster" - the head-on collision of two trains on 7th August 1876. 13 people were killed and 34 injured. The bodies of the victims were laid out for identification in a barn in nearby Paglinch Farm.
