THE Chairman of Bath & North East Somerset Council, Cllr Marian McNeir, will be visiting St Julian’s C of E Primary School in Wellow on Tuesday, October 5 to take part in the school’s second annual Health Week.

During the week children at the school will be taking part in a wide range of activities focussing on health in its broadest sense.

Activities for the youngest pupils will include making fruit kebabs and fruit smoothies as well as hockey, dance and designing vegetable sculptures.

The older pupils will be taking part in a swimathon and a range of physical activities such as basketball, circuit training and gymnastics and aerobics.

Sarah Jones, Headteacher at St Julian’s, said: “As we have now been awarded Healthy Schools Status by the Schools for Health team, we aim to educate our pupils with regard to health and well being and thus try to highlight health education throughout the year.

“However Health Week enables us to focus on specific issues in more depth and as such is a great opportunity for staff and pupils to try new activities and learn about health related practices.”

Cllr McNeir, whose theme for her year of office as Chairman is ‘a healthier community’, said: “I am looking forward to visiting St Julian’s and taking part in some of the activities they have planned.”
