Pupils at Somervale School in Midsomer Norton are celebrating this week with record GCSE results.
The school has improved dramatically this year (by 17 per cent) with 5 or more GCSEs at A to C grades.
Director of Education, Mike Young said: “Bath & North East Somerset Council is delighted with these results. This is a fantastic achievement. Across the board our schools are doing extremely well. About 64.5 per cent of pupils have got 5 or more A to C grades at GCSE, a 4per cent jump, with 99 per cent getting at least one GCSE.
Councillor Jonathan Gay, Executive Member for Children’s Services said: “All the pupils at Somervale should be extremely proud of themselves, these results are really good. Bath & North East Somerset’s schools have once again achieved some great results, putting us among the top 22 local authorities in the country.
Throughout Bath & North East Somerset Council, Key stage 2 results in English and Maths have again improved faster than nationally, and the authority is now ranked 9th in English and 11th in Maths out of all 150 Local Authorities for this key stage.
