Paulton
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Paulton is a large village, population around 3000, located to the North of the Mendip Hills, in the unitary authority of Bath and North East Somerset, England. A former coal mining village and home of the Purnells printing factory, Paulton is now largely populated by commuters to Bristol and Bath.

Much evidence of coal mining still exists in and around the village with a few slag heaps, one of which in the shape of a volcano and a canal basin which was once linked to the Somerset Coal Canal.

Paulton has a small hospital, a library, fire station, two nursery and two primary schools. There are five churches and four pubs in the village.

Paulton is also the location of the first Focus DIY Ltd store, formally called Great Mills and originally called Old Mills. It also has a TESCO and a Somerfield supermarket.
